The National Electoral Institute (INE) in Guerrero lamented two recent acts of violence that occurred in the region. In one incident, an electoral counselor was injured, while in the other, a technology equipment operator lost his life.
According to the official statement, Aremy Rodríguez Santiago, electoral counselor of the 05 District Council in Tlapa de Comonfort, was shot this Sunday by an armed man riding a motorcycle. She is currently hospitalized in Acapulco in stable condition.
In response to this attack, several institutions, including the Electoral Institute and Citizen Participation of Guerrero, the Legislative Power, and the Human Rights Commission of the State of Guerrero, have condemned the incident and demanded justice with a gender perspective for the injured counselor.
The State Attorney General's Office of Guerrero has been urged to conduct a thorough investigation, arrest those responsible, and ensure justice is served in this case. The INE also condemned the attack in which Felipe Solano Ramírez, a technology equipment operator assigned to a Citizen Attention Module, lost his life.
According to the INE Guerrero, Solano Ramírez was attacked while accompanying his injured son in an ambulance to a hospital in Acapulco, following a shooting in Ayutla de los Libres. Authorities have been urged to clarify these events, determine responsibilities, and ensure justice is served in both cases.
INE Guerrero clarified that these attacks are not related to the organization of the extraordinary electoral process of the Federal Judiciary, although it expressed concern about the impact on the individuals participating in it. The institution expressed its sorrow for the harm to individuals involved in the electoral contest and for the valuable contribution they make daily.
